How are your stained glass pieces made?

Every piece is handcrafted from start to finish by me in Toronto, Ontario.

I use the traditional Tiffany Method (copper foil and solder), where each individual piece of glass is cut, ground, wrapped in copper foil, soldered together, cleaned, and finished by hand. Most pieces are framed in zinc for strength and durability, while select designs are finished in handcrafted wood frames.

No mass production. Every piece is made one at a time with care and attention to detail.

Does stained glass contain lead?

Yes. Traditional stained glass is assembled using 60/40 solder (60% tin, 40% lead).

As a precaution, it's recommended that you wash your hands after handling any stained glass piece. All of my work is thoroughly cleaned, then finished with a protective coat of carnauba wax, which helps protect the finish. While the risk from normal display and occasional handling is very low, I still recommend washing your hands after contact, especially before eating or preparing food.
